Fletch Sketch continued...

For some reason I have not been able to publish posts here for months, so I started a new blog for us to store our memories. The new address is fletchsketch.blogspot.com.

My Boys (Quotes of the Week).

One night, Isaac was having trouble going to bed. Steve told him the Boogie Man would come get him if he didn't go to bed. "Do you know who the Boogie Man is?" he asked.

Isaac answered, "The man who does the boogie?"

Also...

Today in church, the bishop gave a lesson on safeguarding our homes from pornography. He said that most kids by the age of seven to eight have already seen pornograpy.

I came home from church and watched my ten-year-old son eating a granola bar at the kitchen table. "Lincoln," I decided to venture, "Do you know what pornography is?"

"The study of corn," he said.

What I'll miss most about this place...

The neighborhood kids:

And also this turtle. It sits in our flower bed. I would take it with us to the new house, but I feel as though it is a major selling point and that the "house gods" might punish us for taking it away by cursing the house so that it stays on the market indefinitely. My favorite thing about the turtle? During the Christmas season, it dons a red ribbon and bell around it's neck. (Why did I never take a picture of it like that? I'm kicking myself!)
We will miss you, dear turtle and neighbors!

Lincoln's 10th Birthday

What a good egg that kid is! He made only two requests. One for a chocolate cake:
The other for a BBQ dinner.

I threw in three balloons because I'm generous and over the top like that.

Happy Birthday to the nicest kid on the planet.

Don't bug us kids. We're in moving mode.

We're feeling mostly good about this month. Aside from some wierd fungal toe infection which for two horrific days I had confused with a severe bacterial infection and believed my toenail would have to be ripped off (I dare you to google a few toenail removal images) and also besides the day my visiting teacher took me to Dillards to get my makeup done (my first time ever), only to be told that on a scale of 0-100 (zero being the worst and one hundred being the healthiest) according to some sort of machine (one of only 70 in the country) that my skin scored a ZERO in some parts and only a TWO at the best, yeah, other than that, we've accomplished a lot. (Wow, long sentence.)

Here's what we've been up to (besides packing up two-thirds of our belongings):

Door fixed. Check.

Girls' room painted. Check.
Bathroom painted, faucet replaced, floor finished. Check.
Master bedroom painted. Go Steve, you hot painter, you! (Check.) Noelle fending for herself:
Self-dressed and also self-fed. (Lunch straight from the sugar bowl.)
Doesn't make for a happy kid, apparently.

Guess what?

(Isaac's announcement to the neighborhood.)

Yes, we are. We're moving. To a new house. We hadn't planned on this happening, but it's happening, so now we are gathering these:

And staying up late making repairs and painting and putting in new floors...

And already we feel like this! Six weeks to go until we must be packed to move and ready to show this house!

(Oh, I am so scared.)

Soccer boy

This is Isaac's first time playing soccer. Ever. We found out he likes to hang back and play defense. Wants to be goalie. (Is that how you spell goalie? Why does that look wrong to me? Why don't I just use spell check? Oh yeah, it is right afterall. Good to know.)

I tried to give them a ride...

But they wanted to walk home from school.

And then it rained. Hard. And when they arrived home they were mad.
(Hee hee.)
